ISO 9001 -Clause 4.4 Quality management system and its processes

Clause 4.4 of ISO 9001 requires an organization to establish, implement and maintain a quality management system and its processes. To do so, the organization must first identify the customer requirements. Once the customer requirements are known, the organization must determine the processes needed to deliver the product or service.

The organization must then plan and implement the processes and monitor and control them to ensure they are effective and efficient. Finally, the organization must take corrective and preventive action to address any nonconformities that may arise.

Clause 4.4 of ISO 9001 is an important requirement for any organization that wants to ensure its products and services meet the needs of its customers. By adhering to this clause, an organization can be sure that it is constantly improving its quality management system and its processes.

 

The quality management system shall include processes for the following as applicable to the organization:

  • Determining the applicable statutory and regulatory requirements related to the product.
  • Determining the product requirements.
  • Design and development of the product.
  • Controlling the processes used for production and service provision.
  • Identification and traceability of the product.
  • Handling, storage, packaging, preservation, and delivery of the product.
  • Control of nonconforming products, including corrective action and preventive action.
  • Analysis of data for trends.
  • Monitoring and measuring the product against the product requirements.

Clause 4.4 of ISO 9001 requires businesses to establish, document, and maintain a quality management system and its processes. The purpose of this clause is to ensure that businesses have a system in place to manage their quality. This system should be designed to meet the needs of the business and its customers.
